Kasamatsu Shiro (1898 - 1991) The Great Lantern at Asakusa Publisher: Watanabe Shozaburo Date: 1934. This edition bears the 6 mm Watanabe seal and was printed between 1946 and 1957. Size: Oban, approximately 15.0 x 10.5 inches. Condition: Very Good, Unframed. Lightly toned. A professional conservator has made a repair to a tear at the upper right corner. Asakusa Kanondo is the oldest temple in Tokyo. In this woodblock print, the imposing lantern dominates yet still invites the eye to wander about. |
