Artist: Shuko Title: Scene from "The Twenty-four Dutiful Sons" Date: c. 1820 Size: 9.5 x 12.5 inches (not including matte). Condition: Unframed. Tipped at top to matte. Very good condition, with small nick lower right corner. Notes: The identification of this work is based on the inscription on the matte. Under a bilingual "genuine" stamp is stated, "An old painting on rice paper. By Shuko c. 1820." " The other three Shuko paintings note that the subject is from the story of twenty-four dutiful sons. Perhaps you are more familiar with the story than we are. - This is one of four. $150.00 each or $500.00 for the set. |
